You might have tried all sorts of exercises to tone your thighs, but it can be a very stubborn area to reduce. Loose skin and excess fat develop and refuse to budge. For those who have lost a significant amount of weight, the loose skin can be substantial. A Thigh Lift (Thighplasty) can make your thighs look toned and trim again.
Dr. Munasifi will listen to your concerns about your thighs and create a customized surgical plan for you. He has a host of techniques available to him, and he will choose the ones that are best for your anatomy to raise, firm, and tighten the thighs.
Note that this procedure is usually performed on those with a large amount of loose, hanging skin on the thighs. If you only have excess fatty tissue that has not responded to diet and exercise, Liposuction alone may be sufficient for you. It is best to have Liposuction or a Thigh Lift when you are near your ideal weight, as subsequent weight loss could cause the appearance of loose skin.
What areas does a Thigh Lift treat?
A Thigh Lift with Dr. Munasifi trims and tones the inner and outer thighs, and it can also reduce cellulite and stretch marks.
What procedures complement a Thigh Lift?
It is not uncommon for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight to need a series of body contouring procedures to remove the excess skin that remains, such as an Arm Lift, Tummy Tuck, or Body Lift.
How long does a Thigh Lift last?
Dr. Munasifi’s Thigh Lift techniques are long-lasting, but the aging process does continue and varies from person to person. The best way to make your results last longer is to keep your weight steady.
What kind of anesthesia is required for a Thigh Lift?
The surgery is usually performed using general anesthesia and as an outpatient procedure, which means you can go home the same day. Anesthesia is always provided by a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist.
You will need to have someone available to drive you home, however. Alternatively, we can provide a car service to bring you to your surgery appointment and take you home for a minimal fee, provided you have an adult to accompany you.
What happens during a Thigh Lift?
Dr. Munasifi makes small incisions within the groin area and/or on the insides of the thighs to remove the excess skin and fatty tissue. Fat may be removed using Liposuction. In this case, a small tube called a cannula is inserted into an incision and attached to a suction device, which removes the fat.
After the procedure is completed, special bandages are applied to the thighs. You will then spend a period of time in our recovery room before you can go home.
When can I return to work after a Thigh Lift?
All of our patients are able to leave the house the day after their procedure. Many of our patients begin working from home within 4-5 days. Most patients return to the office within 2 weeks. If you have a job that requires physical work, you may need 3-6 weeks off.
What is recovery like after a Thigh Lift?
Dr. Munasifi is very particular about patient care after procedures, so he will meet with you multiple times throughout the recovery process to monitor your healing. All surgical follow-up appointments are provided free of charge, as he wants you to feel comfortable with bringing up any concerns or questions you have.
If drains are placed in the incisions to capture post-surgical fluids, these will be removed in a few days. After 4-5 days, the bandages are removed, and the sutures are removed in 1-2 weeks. For the majority of the bruising and swelling to subside, however, recovery usually takes 3-4 weeks. The swelling will resolve last, and we may give you compression garments to wear to keep swelling to a minimum.
It’s normal to experience some soreness, bruising, tightness, numbness, itching, and swelling. We will give you a prescription for pain medication, but many patients find that non-prescription painkillers such as Tylenol are enough.
Since strenuous activity can increase blood pressure, it’s very important to avoid heavy exercise for about 6 weeks. However, being completely inactive is one of the worst things you can do after a procedure. Dr. Munasifi encourages patients to take regular walks as soon after surgery as possible. You should be able to resume light exercise after about 6 weeks.
Scars will become less noticeable after enough time has passed for them to mature. We will give you strategies to help the scars heal faster and better.
Rest assured that we will give you detailed instructions for your recovery, and we will be available to answer your questions and monitor your progress during follow-up examinations. Dr. Munasifi believes in providing the attention you need to feel comfortable about your procedure, and he loves getting to know his patients.
