Breast Augmentation Q & A

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation, sometimes called breast implant surgery, is a procedure to enhance the size and shape of your breasts with implants. Dr. Economides has performed thousands of breast implant procedures, creating appealing and natural-looking busts by changing the shape, size, and symmetry of breasts.

What are the available types of breast implants?

Dr. Economides offers saline and silicone implants in a variety of projections and sizes. Both options are safe, and your surgeon will help you choose the best option for your aesthetic goals and body type.

Silicone implants feel soft and natural and are less prone to rippling. Saline implants are filled once the shell is inserted, which allows for a slightly more customizable outcome and a smaller incision site.

Implants vary substantially in volume and projection. The experienced surgeons can help you choose the perfect implant for the profile and shape you desire.

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation might be right for you if you’re unhappy about the size and shape of your breasts. You should make this decision for yourself, not to please anyone else. Overall, you should be in good general health and be over 18 with fully developed breasts.

What should I expect during breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. You need a friend or family member to drive you home when your surgeon releases you.

While you sleep, Dr. Economides makes a small incision and inserts your implants. After the implants are carefully positioned, Dr. Economides closes the incisions with dissolvable stitches and surgical tape. You may have some soreness, bruising, and swelling after your surgery, but these side effects are typical and usually subside within a few days. You can wear a compression garment for a few days to help with any swelling.

Most patients return to their regular activities within a week, although you should avoid any strenuous activity or exercise for up to eight weeks. Your surgeon lets you know when it’s safe to resume your exercise routine.

If you’re interested in breast augmentation, call Advanced Plastic Surgery Center or make an appointment online today to find out which options are right for you.
